New to the Channel Islands range is the M-23. This board combines the float and wave catching ability of a mid length style surfboard but has a much more preformance feel. Evolved from the older M13 model, this new updated version is even better. The length, rounded pin and incresed rocker, combined with a thruster 3 fin set up means this board will paddle easily and catch everything big or small but when up and riding you can still throw it around. The M23 is great for bigger waves and bigger surfers. It can work in smaller surf too but we find it is more geared to surfers looking to get a mid legth but not wanting to compromise on the shortboard style of surfing.
We have chosen for our Zuma Jay stock of M-23s to be made with Channel Islands unique SPINE-TEK® epoxy technology. It makes the board light weight with added strength and durability but also the SPINE-TEK® gives the board added flex and pop that only Channel Islands offer.
6'6: 20 1/2" x 2 11/16" // 39.3 L

"The M23 comes from the storied M13 bloodlines, a favorite hybrid board Al Merrick made for himself and rode variants of for decades from fun Rincon to maxing Sunset. A true high performance hybrid that caters to the widest possible type and size of surfer - and for the widest range of wave conditions. Not to be confused with the CI Mid, the M23 carries more foam, boasting a fuller rail and sleeker nose outline. It paddles like a champ while still riding more like a shortboard."
SPINE-TEK:
Channel Islands introduces SPINE-TEK
"We are proud to announce our collaboration with Shapers Australia to launch SPINE-TEK; a precision engineered stringer spine utilizing a unique composition of fiberglass and resin. SPINE-TEK is based on the principles of elastic energy, to flex under pressure and then return the surfboard back to its natural rocker, providing surfboards with a more lively and responsive feel."
"Performance through innovation, SPINE-TEK® is a world’s first with its unique fiber-based composition, delivers optimal flex based performance through the principles of elastic & kinetic energy. Through this process the surfboard loads up on energy and then releases, generating additional drive, speed, power & flow."
"Weighing a mere ¼ of a pound and installed in the surfboard deck, SPINE-TEK replaces the traditional heavier timber stringers and is virtually break free."
